Division 03 · Hedley Capital

Personal wealth is where the business is ultimately going.

Superannuation, investments, insurance and retirement income — planned with full knowledge of your entities, your debt and your intended exit, rather than in a separate room by an adviser who has never seen your P&L.

Advice we provide

Advice that knows what the business is doing.

Personal advice tailored to your objectives, financial situation and needs — documented in a Statement of Advice.

01

Wealth & retirement strategy

A plan that connects today’s business income to the life you want after it — when you can stop, what income you will need, and what has to happen between now and then.

  • Retirement timing and income needs
  • Cashflow and surplus planning
  • Debt versus investment decisions
  • Regular progress reviews
02

Superannuation & SMSF

Contribution strategies, consolidation, fund selection and SMSF advice, coordinated with the business tax position so the timing and type of contributions make sense.

  • Concessional and non-concessional contributions
  • Fund review and consolidation
  • SMSF establishment and investment strategy advice
  • Business premises in super
03

Investment portfolios

Investment strategy built around your risk profile, time horizon and the concentration risk of already owning a business or property.

  • Portfolio construction
  • Managed accounts and platforms
  • Diversification away from the business
  • Ongoing review and rebalancing
04

Personal & income insurance

Life, total and permanent disability, trauma and income protection — sized to your actual debts, dependants and income, and held in the most suitable structure.

  • Needs analysis
  • Income protection for business owners
  • Ownership inside or outside super
  • Claims support
05

Business protection

The cover most owners assume they have: key person insurance, and buy/sell funding so a partner’s death or disability does not become a dispute over the business.

  • Key person cover
  • Buy/sell agreement funding
  • Guarantor and debt protection
  • Coordination with your accountant
06

Life after the sale

Turning a one-off sale proceeds event into reliable retirement income — contributions, CGT concession amounts, pensions and investment, sequenced properly.

  • Sale proceeds strategy
  • Account-based pensions
  • Centrelink and aged care considerations
  • Estate planning coordination
Our approach

Your adviser should have seen the same numbers as your accountant.

For most business owners, the business is the largest asset they own and the source of almost every dollar of future wealth. Advice about super, insurance and investments that ignores it — the debt it carries, the CGT position underneath it, the sale you are planning — is advice about half a balance sheet.

Hedley Capital works from the same position as the firm’s accountants, brokers and valuers, with your consent. Contributions are timed with the tax position, insurance is sized to the real debt, and retirement planning starts from a realistic view of what the business will be worth.

  • Personal advice documented in a Statement of Advice, with every fee disclosed
  • Insurance sized to actual business and personal debt
  • Contribution strategy coordinated with the business tax position
  • Planning that starts from a realistic view of the exit
